Yaraandoo Ski Club was formed by a committed group of skiing enthusiasts with the goal of pursing and promoting winter snow sports activities in Australia.
The club is run by volunteer members and operates as a non-profit cooperative. The club was formed in 1961, and soon after a ski lodge was established in Perisher by volunteers, within the beautiful Kosciuszko National Park.
The club has been particularly successful in introducing snow sports to three or four generations of many families. During this time the club has seen the development of expert skiers and snowboarders that have gone on to compete at national levels and at international locations. A number of our members who have learnt to ski through the club have gone on to have successful careers as ski instructors in Australia, the USA and Europe.
The club membership includes a wide range of people: foundation members that established the club in the 1960s; some people that once learnt to ski as children of club members and have since joined in their own right; and others that simply enjoy skiing and snowboarding and have joined in recent times.
